CONTEMPORARY NEW HOME, REIGATE
This sleek, true handleless kitchen is Mereway’s Futura kitchen from the Cucina Colore range, known for its Italian-inspired minimalist style. Cucina Colore was the perfect choice to create a contemporary kitchen for a newly constructed, modern family home.
Creating an open plan, contemporary kitchen that took full advantage of the light and space, without feeling too clinical was key to this design.
Designing such a bold contemporary kitchen for this family and their stunning new home was such a pleasure. We are imagining some wonderful parties and Christmas dinners being enjoyed here for years to come.
Paines & Gray Kitchen Design
The house is flooded with natural light and positioned on a wonderfully private plot with a mature garden. It was important that the kitchen complemented the interior style of the home, delivered the practicality required for a busy family and enjoyed views out over the terrace and garden.
One of the initial decisions was the colour palette and right from the start the brief was grey and white, perfect for a contemporary style kitchen. As the design started to take shape, the palette was extended to incorporate two shades of grey, mineral anthracite and mineral silver. The dark and light tones work beautifully together and facilitate having a bold colour without it dominating the room.
True handleless style kitchens can look a little too clinical for a family home and it was important that this kitchen did not feel too minimal but felt warm and inviting. Ambient lighting around the extractor, floor plinths and under the cabinets create a lovely atmosphere.
This helps create an inviting space for entertaining, cooking and dining. In addition to the ambient lighting options, the textured look on the doors softens the overall look and feel. We love the textured style and it works so well in this kitchen and home.
The utility room is styled in the same design as the kitchen and works as a seamless extension to the open plan kitchen diner. Tucked away in the utility is the walk-in larder, white goods and second sink.
What works really beautifully in this space is the connection to the outside. The minimalist design and uncluttered style throughout the kitchen ensure that the views out to the garden are uninterrupted.
Key Appliances
The contemporary Quooker CUBE combination tap providing boiling, filtered and sparkling water is right at home in this modern kitchen with the 1810 Company sink. The impressive bank of integrated Siemens studioLine ovens and Siemens studioLine hob on the large kitchen island are stylish and hugely practical elements of this kitchen design. Often induction hobs are chosen in this style of handleless, sleek kitchen but the more industrial style of the gas hob works really well in this scheme, combined with the boxed in Westin extractor suspended over the island.
The full height fridge freezer with integrated ice maker is Liebherr and the undercounter wine cooler is by Caple.
