About This Project

CONTEMPORARY KITCHEN DINER EXTENSION, EPSOM

This is a newly renovated and extended house transformed into a stunning contemporary, family home.

The new kitchen and utility room form part of the new extension, an impressive single-storey open plan kitchen diner and office with bi-fold doors leading out to the patio.

The final design features a Mereway Futura Handleless kitchen with Springfield Light Oak doors mixed with Mineral Silver doors and brushed brass grip rails.

Paines & Gray Kitchen Design

To kick off the design process, our customers sent images and ideas via Pinterest to give Andrew a real sense of the designs that inspired them. More customers are using platforms like Pinterest to collate the styles, colours and features they like. It is a great idea and helps us pull your favourite elements together into one coherent design.

For the new kitchen-diner, our customers knew they wanted a minimalist, Scandinavian feel to the space, using concrete-look finishes with wood accents and gold details. These three elements work so well together; the wood and gold elements provide a great contrast to the grey, bringing a warmth to the colour scheme. In the early stages of the design process, both light and dark grey were considered for the concrete look but the light grey (Mineral Silver) was chosen and works so well here.

Kitchen Pantry Design
New kitchen diner Epsom

In addition to getting the look right, it was integral to the brief that the new kitchen provided lots more storage than the previous one. So in addition to the main units, extra storage is integrated on either side of the extractor hood and within the kitchen island.

The island features a stunning Light Carerra Quartz worktop with waterfall edge on one side and breakfast bar on the other. It is the perfect spot for food prep, casual dining, socialising, working from home, and even schoolwork we’ve been told! It also houses a wine fridge and wine rack, perfect positioned for entertaining.

Favourite features are hard to choose between in this kitchen but the pantry unit set up as a breakfast station is such a great use of space. Our customers love how much the pantry can store, helping to keep all the worktops uncluttered, which is key to the design aesthetic.

A handleless option wasn’t possible for the pantry so we sourced door knobs that closely matched the statement pendant lights hanging above the island and the gold elements around the kitchen. These little details make such a difference and we’re so pleased with the result.

This is a beautifully styled kitchen and a practical, sociable and family-orientated space. It was a brilliant project to be part of.

Key Appliances

The Quooker tap takes centre stage on the kitchen island and Neff appliances are integrated across the kitchen, including the induction hob. These hobs are ideal for minimalist, contemporary kitchens, maintaining that streamlined look.

A full-height tower fridge is integrated into the main kitchen, and a separate freezer is in the utility room.

“We originally when to a high street brand but found the options to be limited and what they offered didn’t really increase our storage space or answer our brief. We were really pleased to be introduced to Andrew at Paines & Gray whose response to all my queries was ‘…of course we can do that!”
