Paines & Gray Kitchen Design

Coming into the project, our clients had a strong sense of the kitchen style they wanted to achieve.

Working with our suggestions on materials and finishes, they chose a soft grey gloss for the main run of furniture and the concrete look on the island. To further enhance the contemporary scheme, they chose a black mirrored glass splashback. As well as a practical and stylish addition, this creates lovely reflections around the space too, capitalising on all the natural light this kitchen benefits from.

In addition to creating the right aesthetic, a key element of our brief was specifying the right quality of furniture and appliances. Having been disappointed in the quality of the previous kitchen (not a Paines & Gray kitchen, of course!), this time around, our clients wanted to put quality first, so a Mereway kitchen was the obvious choice.

As part of the kitchen renovation, the clients were also keen to use the opportunity to optimise the layout to create a modern, more sociable kitchen diner.

To create a better flow throughout the space, we suggested removing an internal wall, which really transformed the room.

This created a fully open-plan layout and enabled us to incorporate a large island around the new central pillar.

Within the open-plan room, there are defined zones for each element, but the kitchen island is at the heart of it all. It is hard to pick a favourite area, but the sheer size of the island with the fantastic BORA hob and integrated breakfast bar just edges it.
