MODERN EXTENSION, REIGATE
This was such a fantastic space to design. The open plan kitchen diner is flooded with natural light and the space lent itself to the creation of distinct zones. Each area has its own purpose but the design and feel are coherent, creating an uncluttered but practical space, ideal for family life.
Our customers knew they wanted a classic in-frame shaker kitchen but wanted to ensure it felt light and modern, having previously had a kitchen with wooden cabinetry and dark worktops.
The kitchen is Signature in light grey from Mereway’s English Revival range. It has a classic feel in keeping with the age and interior style of the house whilst feeling right at home in this contemporary setting.
Paines & Gray Kitchen Design
This is a multi-zone space with a media unit, breakfast bar, home office space, second sink and food prep area, dining area and main kitchen workspace. High on the wishlist for the design was a large breakfast bar for informal seating and a separate dining area for family meals and entertaining.
This breakfast bar connects the dining, relaxing and workspaces together. It also enables guests to take in the views of the garden and engage with anyone working in the kitchen, a great set-up for entertaining.
The bespoke media unit is a real feature, providing an elegant and versatile family area without impacting the clean lines and style of the kitchen. This unit has plenty of storage built-in as well to keep it uncluttered.
Wherever you are working in this kitchen, you have views of the garden and plenty of natural light which we particularly like in this design. The light is then reflected around the space by the veined white quartz worktops and mirrored glass splashback behind the hob. Soft lighting is achieved with the undercabinet lighting and the internal lighting in the glassware cabinet, ideal for more atmospheric lighting in a large space.
Key Appliances
The favourite appliances in this kitchen are the Quooker tap and Fisher & Paykel American style fridge freezer. The fridge freezer was a wishlist item and it is a great fit for this family and space. The deep freezer drawers are so practical, it is one of our go-to American style fridge freezers.
Other appliances include the Neff Slide & Hide oven with warming drawer with Neff induction hob and 1810 sinks.
“It was Andrew’s suggestion to put in a wine rack above the fridge freezer to make the most of that space, rather than have a small cupboard that would be difficult to access. We’re really happy we went with his suggestion, it’s such a great use of space.”
